Gyoza

Gyoza is a dumpling. It can be steamed or fried. Fried gyoza is best serve with mayonnaise while the steam one is best served with black vinegar and ginger strip.
Ingredients
1 cup chopped cabbage
1 tablespoon chopped onion
100g mince pork
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoon soya sauce
1 tablespoon salt
gyoza wrapper

Methods
1 Combine all ingredients and mix well.
2. Place a teaspoon of filling on gyoza wrapper.
3. Place water on the edge of wrapper and seal it.
4. Heat some oil in a pan and put in gyoza and fry on high heat.
5. Turn to low heat and add in water.
6. Cover the pan and steam the gyoza till water is gone.

Agedashi Dofu

Agedashi Dofu is deep fried tofu. Tofu is made from soya bean and is very nutrious.
Ingredients
2 tofu block
1 cup dashi stock
1 tablespoon soya sauce
1 tablespoon mirin
2 tablespoon corn flour/potato starch
1 tablespoon water

Methods
1. Put dashi stock, soya sauce and mirin in a pan and brin it to boil, add in corn flour mixture and stir well.
2. Wrap tofu in paper towel and remove excess water. Cut into cube and dust it with corn flour.
3.Fry tofu till golden and drain off excess oil. Place fried tofu in a plate and pour sauce over it.

Tonkatsu (Pork Cutlet)




My Hubby loves to eat this dish. It is pork cutlet in Western Cuisine.

Ingredients
2 pork chop
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup corn flour
1 egg
1 cup bread crumbs

Methods
1. Sprinkle pork chop with salt and pepper.
2. Lightly tap the pork chop with corn flour and dip it into egg mixture.
3. Put bread crumb on the pork chop an pat it well.
4. Deep fried the pork chop till golden brown.
5. Take them out and drain the oil on a paper towel.

Japanese Cuisine

Whenever I ask my boys what he wants for lunch/dinner.  They will simply reply....  either MacDonald Value Meal or Japanese Food.

They love to eat the Cold noodle.  This is how i prepared it.

Cold Somen
Ingredient
1 pack Dried somen noodle
2 cup dashi soup stock
1 cup soya sauce
1 cup mirin
Seaweed Cut into thin strip
Spring onion

Method
(Dipping Sauce) -
1. Put mirin in a sauce pan and heat, Add in soya sauce and dashi stock.
2. Bring it to boil and let it cool till room temperature.
3. Once sauce is cooled, put in cup.
To make it simple, just get a bottle of this sauce from Daiso and mixed with cold water.


(Cold Somen noodle)
1. Boil water ina large pot and ad somen noodle.
2. Gently stir somen. Drain somen and rinse with cold water.
3. Placed the cold somen in a large serving plate and top it with seaweed strip and spring onion.
